Carpet beetles are small, round beetles, but it is their fuzzy larvae that do the damage. The larvae feed on wool, silk, feathers, fur and pet hair, so they chew patches in rugs, carpets, woollen jumpers and stored blankets. Signs include small holes in woollen clothes, bare patches at the edges of rugs, tiny shed skins and adult beetles near windows in spring.
